Under Pressure

It’s that time of the year when we finally get the new season of Drive to Survive and also welcome back Formula One back into my life. I have to say, over the past couple of years, having friends like Nikki and Raman egg me on to this madness has been fun! Fandoms really are some things to be shared!

I found that Drive to Survive did a good job of showcasing how the pandemic really changed things for the entire sport, but I was hoping for a bit more from that bit. I didn’t like the fabricated drama between Carlos & Lando (when we know it was just a bromance) but it was also nice to see more of Bottas since I honestly just ignore him most of the time.

Obviously, the big accident for Grosjean was a huge part of it and seeing it again still gives me the chills because that was just insane. They handled it quite well given the accident porn it could have gone. I wish we had seen more of Russell and his turn at Mercedes, but I suppose we’ll have to wait and see! Also, Daniel Ricciardo and his transition to McLaren away from Renault (and Cyril over-all) was an interesting view.

Looking forward to this new season, I do have a couple of things that I’m looking forward to: Top of mind is Ricciardo to McLaren. I have a soft spot for this handsome, charming Australian and I really want him to do well. Hopefully, he and Lando get along and bring us all the feels because Carlos/Lando will be missed. Speaking of Carlos, it will be interesting to see him in Ferrari given how things have been going for the Scuderia in the past season.

Vettel to Aston Martin is something I hope works out for him. I love Vettel and just seeing him flourish somewhere would be nice, but I don’t want to hold my breath. And obviously, just hoping for more racing and challenging from RedBull to Mercedes even if Toto Wolff will be hurt in the process. Yes, I still love him even if I’m annoyed at his team’s dominance. I contain multitudes ok?

I’m still toying with the idea of doing a podcast on Formula One (cause you know, I don’t have enough on my plate), but we shall see!
