I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

Well that was a crazy season. It was definitely the most entertaining one for the recent history of Formula One that I’ve watched as a sentient being and I liked it. Yes, I’ve never been the biggest Hamilton fan but for some reason, this was the season when I found myself almost rooting for him

But who am I kidding? I was incredibly happy for Max to win in the end even if it’s quite controversial. Also, by the end of it, Max was turning out to be not the most gracious player and that made me appreciate Lewis a litttttle bit more than usual but not all the way there.

It was also really nice to see Lando and Ricciardo (but mostly Lando) drive the fuck out of the McLaren. I was rooting for them so hard just because it was so nice to see some changes in the podiums this year and having the McLaren boys there was always a welcome surprise.

Then of course, there’s Ferrari and Carlos Sainz and Leclerc battling it out and looking very handsome while at it. Would I like to see a return of Ferrari dominance? Why not, but then next year all bets are off technically.

Sad to see Raikonen go but look, Alonso is back and Vettel is still here so there’s still a bit of the old guard in and being snarky and funny on the team radio. But of course the pretend / not really pretend animosity between Toto Wolff and Christian Horner. Where are you Netflix season 3 of Drive to survive?

But mostly, I’m so glad for WTF1 and BBC F1 Chequered Flag and the late discovery, Engine Failure for supplementing my season. And especially my Sunday night friends, Raman and Denise, Nikki and John and Mike and Aimee and my dad and brother who are reliable fangirls and boys with me. Is an F1 podcast finally in my 2022 future? God knows, but I’m so glad we don’t have to wait too long for the next season.
