I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

The Palace Papers

I’ve always been obsessed with the Royal Family and so when Tina Brown released her book, The Palace Papers, you know I was all in. The best part about it is that it fell right in between the gap where The Crown isn’t quite here yet and there’s a vacuum that needs to be filled.

The book focuses on four women — no Princess Diana cause she’s got a whole separate book just for her — and it was fascinating how Brown covered the Queen, Camilla, Kate and Meghan. Now we know I always hoped to marry Prince Harry so my bias will show through, but it was still fascinating.

I'm really curious to read something more substantial about the Queen especially after watching the seasons that are out of the Crown. I honestly want something about her and Prince Philip and it was nice to get a bit of that in this book. She really will be the most memorable monarch of my lifetime.

Then there’s Camilla who I honestly wasn’t the biggest fan of in the past — just because I viscerally remember Princess Diana’s death, but between The Crown and this book, I’m kind of rooting for her. This girl hung on and well, she got her man. They’re problematic over-all but still, I kinda like her a bit more and now want more.

Of course, I’m a huge Kate fan and I really liked seeing into how she was brought up and how her parents really made sure she was in the right social circles and honestly the entire William romance was both frustrating for her but also quite nice how it all ended up.

I couldn’t bring myself to read through the Meghan era just because I’m still heartbroken but I know we’ll have way more content from Harry and Meghan as they partner with all the media, but it was an interesting insight. There’s definitely a lot of issues that needs to be addressed. I just want everyone to be happy.

Then on top of this, there’s a podcast called Dynasty by Vanity Fair and that’s been a joy to listen to as a companion piece in a way. Come give me all the royal content. I am needing it all.
