I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

You're no good

I've somehow written this entry 3x already because it keeps disappearing. I should have learned my lesson the first time. But that's a testament to both my idiocy and my excitement for this film.

When I first heard about the gender flipped reboot of the original trilogy, I was pretty skeptical. I was a huge fan of the original movies and they honestly didn't feel like a very long time ago. I felt old realising that things that I loved when I was a sentient human being are now being remade. But I held on. You can never tell with these things.

Then the cast was revealed and everything was just right in the world. It was a girlcrush-gasm come to life. All my favourites had come together -- Blanchett (so divine!), Bullock (practically magical), Hathaway! (forever favorite), Kaling! (my spirit everything) and they had added some interesting choices in the mix because I'll be honest, I really did love Sarah Paulson on Studio 60 on the Susnet Strip but I'm not cool enough to say that i'm a badgal for Rihanna or that I adore Helena Bonham Carter on a regular basis or that I knew who Akwafina was).

Then all the wonderful behind-the-scenes-photos and the cute interviews started trickling out and the aesthetic was amazing. Having it set in New York City with the Met Gala Ball as the plot line had me giddy. I look forward to the fashion and the theme (which I never understand) every year and can't wait to see how they incorporate it and give us all the cameos in the world.

Then the poster came out and I love how it stayed true to the feel of the first three movies (all black and red and positively sleeker than before) and the first trailer was released and my jaw dropped because RICHARD FREAKING ARMITAGE IS IN IT. I don't know what he does and I don't really care. This man owns me. He can play a lamp post and I will love it.

Basically, I'm excited. Very excited. The press tour will be amazing -- all the looks from all the actresses will just be so lovely to look forward to. June 8 (or whenever it's set to be released in Singpaore) can't come fast enough.
